The Mother’s Story Lab – North Vancouver
If you want to write your mother’s story or the story of someone else important in your life, consider attending our ongoing Mother’s Story Labs. We call it a Lab because it’s always evolving – what we’re doing, how we engage with one another, and with our community.
All stories are written following the template created by Marilyn Norry: the facts of your mother’s life told from beginning to end in less than 2000 words where you are just a footnote. It’s been tested, continues to be tested, and it works!
Meet other people, men and women, who are undertaking this journey of discovery – of their mothers and themselves – and get the writing skills and confidence you need to get your history down on paper.
Marilyn Norry is leading the Lab which involves writing exercises to organize and inspire you, readings, and tips from other participants on how to research material, interview family members, and break through our own personal resistance to speaking about our mothers. Every story is fascinating as is witnessing the process each writer goes through to find the best way of describing the history of someone they know so well.
Open to men and women, all ages, and telling all kinds of stories. And you don’t have to even live in North Vancouver!
And our next book will be of stories submitted through the Mother’s Lab!
First Wednesday every month except July and August
All sessions start at 6:30 pm
